The process of creation

From idea to reality...

Every sculpture starts with an emotion. An emotion that is first translated into a virtual form. Once the basic concept is sketched, a 3D model is created that defines the exact shape of the artwork. Each individual surface is designed with the exact intention of what sensory value it will provide. This is followed by the technical aspect. Defining size, reflections, surface finish. For complex applications, load simulations are carried out. The development of the design documentation takes us from the virtual world to the real one.

Each surface is precisely laser cut. ¹/₁₆ inch (1.5 mm) stainless steel, highly alloyed with chromium, nickel, manganese, is used as standard, making the resulting sculpture durable and chemically stable. In case of high load, thicker steel is applied. It is also possible to make a sculpture from aluminium or titanium on request.

A point where art and experience come together...

In the next step, the individual parts are welded together by hand to create the final shape. In order to achieve the desired final quality standard, it is necessary to apply all knowledge and experience in the field of welding. Every weld must be flawless. After dozens of hours of meticulous work, the completed sculpture undergoes a visual inspection, a stress test and preparation for painting - surface sandblasting.

The final step, which gives the sculpture its final elegant look, is the painting. The painting process is carried out under conditions similar to those used in the manufacture of an automobile, using only high quality colours.

And this is how a work of art is created according to the kobaltsky standard.
